Sanexen is seeking a Environmental Technician who will be able to travel to our various sites in Quebec, Canada, and the United States.
Job Description
Under the supervision of the project management team, the environmental technician acts as a key link between field operations and technical analysis. You will be required to travel to various sites in Quebec, across Canada, and in the United States to carry out sampling work (soil, groundwater and surface water, biogas, and biosolids), collect environmental data (including noise), and support environmental site assessments (Phases I to III).
Main responsibilities
- Perform sampling of soils, groundwater and surface water, as well as biogas;
- Collect noise data;
- Assist with environmental site assessments (Phases I to III);
- Participate in the operation of a water treatment system, as required;
- Carry out asbestos and mold removal projects;
- Assist with soil excavation, sometimes manually;
- Conduct excavation monitoring;
- Assist with the consolidation and packaging of hazardous materials;
- Complete electronic and/or paper documentation such as health and safety forms, daily reports, photographic reports, drilling logs, etc.;
- Welcome and supervise subcontractors and suppliers;
- Report non-conformities to the project manager;
- Assist the site foreman, as needed;
- Perform manual tasks using various tools;
- Conduct inspections of discharge ditches;
- Ensure inventories are up to date (HSE equipment, tools, sampling containers, communication and signage equipment);
- Ensure that work under Sanexen’s responsibility is carried out safely and in compliance with the established health and safety plan.
Qualifications required
Sought Profile
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar position is required
- Technical training or relevant experience in environmental science or civil engineering
- Field experience in environmental work
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
- Availability to travel within Quebec and/or elsewhere in Canada and in the USA
- Strong team spirit
- Thoroughness, proactivity, autonomy, and dynamism
Assets
- Training in the transportation of dangerous goods (TDG), WHMIS, or other relevant certifications (an asset)
- Forklift operator certification (an asset)
Proficiency in French and English:
