Sanexen is seeking a Mentored Project Manager – Northern Projects.

Job Description

The Mentored Project Manager, based in Northern Quebec, supports the coordination of project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers, working closely with a senior project manager. The role contributes to ensuring compliance with contractual, legal, regulatory, and organizational requirements, as well as to monitoring project progress using performance indicators.

The position involves participating in the preparation of deliverables, the application of risk management, health and safety, environmental, and quality processes, as well as supporting monthly financial tracking. The individual is responsible for maintaining compliant project documentation and takes part, under supervision, in the tendering and bid preparation processes. This role is part of a structured professional development path within the context of northern and remote projects.

The role requires a relevant education and 2 to 5 years of experience in project coordination or management within the environmental, mining, or construction sectors, strong communication skills, the ability to travel to remote regions, and proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.

  • Participate, under the supervision of a senior project manager, in the technical management and financial monitoring of environmental projects, including:
    • Phase I and II environmental site assessments;
    • Management of accidental spills;
    • Mold and asbestos abatement projects, as well as air quality mandates;
    • Management of regulated hazardous materials;
    • Occasional participation in fieldwork.
  • Contribute to the logistical management of projects in remote locations;
  • Draft and update, with guidance, technical documentation and project reports;
  • Maintain regular communication with management located at the head office;
  • Support the preparation of proposals and work programs;
  • Participate in the preparation and implementation of health and safety plans during project execution;
  • Collaborate in the supervision of field teams (3 to 5 people), under supervision.

Sought Profile

  • 2 to 3 years of experience, or equivalent experience, participating in environmental projects and/or projects in northern settings, along with relevant education in a related field;
  • A basic understanding of the logistical constraints associated with projects in remote locations and an interest in further developing this expertise;
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness, sound judgment, and flexibility, with the ability to adapt to projects of varying scope and nature;
  • Demonstrated potential in project management and a strong willingness to learn within a mentorship framework;
  • Willingness to undertake short- to medium-term assignments in Northern Quebec;
  • A strong ability to adapt to the cultural realities of northern and remote environments;
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and report-writing skills.

Assets

  • Previous experience in the logistical management of projects in remote locations;
  • Knowledge of federal environmental regulations;
  • Field experience in northern environmental projects;
  • Previous involvement in projects engaging northern or Indigenous communities.
